In Tibetan Buddhism, the wisdom deity is known as Manjushri. By reciting the seed syllable DHI from the mantra, one develops clarity of speech and wisdom.
The 60 petals around the seed syllable DHI represents the 60 qualities of Buddha’s speech and the 1,001 rays represent the 1,001 Buddhas to appear in this eon.

The Tibetan Community School

The Tibetan Community School is the most successful initiative undertaken by the TCNYNJ organization. Tibetan children, from 5 to 18 years old, attend weekend classes to learn Tibetan Language, Culture, Religion and Performing Arts.
For the past 5 years, the academic highlight has been a Quiz Competition where students from each house participate at the end of the year. At present there are almost 150 students attending school from the tri-state area. We also have 20 volunteer teachers - 13 teachers who teach Tibetan language and 7 who teach Tibetan music and dance.
Our Vision
Our vision for the future is to operate and establish an affordable full-time Tibetan school in New York
for grades K-12. Tibetan will be the primary spoken language, and cultural and religious components
will be integral to the curriculum. Once this has been accomplished, we hope to open branches in Tibet
where schools are in urgent need.
